Product Description

The Only Chisel You'll Ever Need

In the fall, vertical tillage eliminates the soil’s density layers, leaving it ready for a one-pass tool before spring planting. Turbo-Chisel is engineered to size and incorporate residue into the top 4-5" (10-13 cm) of soil, while leaving the surface level enough for a single-pass tool in the spring. The Turbo-Chisel is available in 14 sizes, with a choice of shanks and optional rear attachments.

Turbo-Chisel starts by slicing residue with exclusive 22" (56 cm) Great Plains Turbo Coulters on 7½" (19 cm) spacing. Blades run on a 1¾" (44 mm) gang bolt with cast spools, putting the weight “in the gang” for outstanding performance and reliability. Gang bearings are field-proven, PEER® Maintenance-Free 211 Bearings with cast housings mounted to heavy-duty 1" x 3" (25x76 mm) C-shank standards. Plus, Turbo-Chisel’s coulter depth is hydraulically adjustable for on-the-go depth control.

This machine is offered in rigid 7-15 shank models or folding 9-23 shank models, with a recommended horsepower requirement of 30 hp per shank. Units can be equipped with optional chisel shanks, as well as optional Great Plains chopper wheels to crumble clods while leveling soil.

While there are other coulter chisels available on the market, there is only one Turbo-Chisel!

Product Features

TOGGLE TRIP RESET SHANKS

The Heavy-Duty Toggle Trip Shanks have a 2,450-pound horizontal trip force and will automatically reset when tripped.

TURBO COULTERS

The turbo design allows the blade flute to attack the residue vertically, providing improved cutting and penetration with decreased hairpinning.

MULTIPLE SHANK COMBINATIONS

Order the Turbo-Chisel with one of three different shank combinations: Standard-Standard, Medium-Heavy, or Heavy-Heavy. Heavy-duty shanks are set to run 2" deeper when used in conjunction with the medium shanks.

Great Plains Exclusive Maintenance-Free Bearings
Exclusive Maintenance-Free Bearings

Great Plains uses the exclusive PEER® TILLXTREME® Maintenance-Free Pillow-Block Bearings in its gangs, as well as smaller TILLXTREME Maintenance-Free Bearings in its rolling attachments.

Fall Tillage: How to Deal with Ruts

Before and After: Turbo-Max® Vertical Tillage Implement
November 11, 2014

Stuck in a rut? Not for long!

With all the additional moisture during fall harvest, the conditions have led to moderately to severely rutted fields around the country. To ensure a nurturing, uniform seedbed and avoid yield-loss, these ruts must be removed prior to spring planting. Ruts cause problems for all types of producers, but they can become an especially unique problem in low disturbance no-till fields. No matter your tillage preference, Great Plains has a solution to combat a variety of field conditions.
